Wells is the smallest city in the UK and is home to Wells Cathedral and the Bishops Palace which are both beautiful places to visit.

Wells Cathedral

Built between 1175 and 1490 Wells Cathedral has been described as 'poetic.' It is the earliest English Cathedral to have been built in the Gothic style and has unique features that separate it from its counterparts including the beautiful scissor arches that p the central towers, and it also houses the largest collection of historic stained glass in the country. If you do visit make sure you go in search of the famous Wells clock which is the second oldest clock mechanism in Greta Britain.

The Bishop's Palace

The Bishop's Palace has been the home to the Bishops of Bath and Wells for over 800 year, and welcomes visitors daily. As well as enjoying the Place itself it is surrounded by 14 acres of beautifully kept gardens including a play area for children. Climb to the top of the towers and you can see out over the moat, and maybe even catch a glimpse of the resident swans.
